Join the University of Helsinki space physics research group to follow the journey of solar storms from the Sun to Earth. Through talks, demonstration stations and workshops, you will learn how solar storms form and how they affect our lives here on Earth. The event is for science enthusiasts of all ages.
Programme
Presentations by space physics researchers
17.10–17.25: Birth of a solar storm (in English)
17.40–17.55: Elämää aurinkomyrskyjen kanssa (in Finnish)
18.10–18.25: Aurinkomyrskyjen synty (in Finnish)
18.40–18.55: Life with solar storms (in English)
Demonstration stations, workshops and other activities from 17.00 to 19.00
Space-themed crafts and science activities for children and adults
Make space-themed colouring pictures and collages, and explore solar activity, plasma and magnetic fields through a range of science activities.
Meet a space physics researcher
Come and ask questions about space research, the work of a researcher and what life as a researcher is like!
This event is closely connected to How Light Becomes Life: The Journey of Energy from the Sun to Our Cells at Tekstin talo, and you are warmly welcome to attend that event as well.
Organiser: The Space Physics Research Group at the University of Helsinki
