Even a square of chocolate carries a story that starts in the Sun and ends inside your cells. It's a story about energy: what gets you through a Monday morning, what keeps your body going while you sleep and what powers your sprint for the bus.
Come and follow the journey of energy at hands-on stations guided by scientists. The event runs for two hours with no fixed schedule, so drop in whenever it suits you. If you want the whole story in the right order, start at the Sun, continue through plants and photosynthesis, and finish at the cell and its powerhouses, the mitochondria. Each station also stands on its own, so feel free to wander.
At the different stations, you can:
- see scientific images of the Sun
- explore observations and models of energy travelling through space
- examine cells and tissue samples under microscopes
- participate in simple interactive experiments
There are also colouring pages for children, as well as stickers and brochures to take home.
All ages are welcome and no background knowledge is needed. Bring a friend, your kid, or just your inner child.
This event is closely connected to Life with Solar Storms at Think Corner, and you are warmly welcome to attend that event as well.
