On the Night of Science 2026, the French Institute will host an event to mark the 200th anniversary of the invention of photography. During the night, the audience will hear the story of the inventor of photography, the Frenchman Nicéphore Niépce, learn about both contemporary photography and ancient techniques, and explore the photographic truth in the digital age. The event will be held in English and French.


This event requires registration. The registration begins on the 8th of January 2026 on the website of the Night of Science.

The capacity of the venue is 60 people. The venue is not fully accessible. A person in a wheelchair must be accompanied. Access to the Institute and its interior spaces is adapted for persons with reduced mobility. However, please note that the ramp leading to the entrance is steep and requires help of an assistant for wheelchair users. Unfortunately, the restrooms are not accessible to persons with reduced mobility.
